Remember back in the spring? When I was still rolling out of bed—no bra, stinky breath, and sweat pants—to go college classes? When scheduling any class at 830a was an if-y idea. When classes that had attendance policies were annoying. Remember when I thought getting up at 7a was absolutely impossible?
Well, that was before I graduated and got my “big girl job”. That was before they both gave me a hard slap in the face to reality. I wake up at 530a every week day to get ready and drive an hour to work. Sleeping in until 7a? That would be heaven. Even adding an extra 30 minutes or an hour would be pure delight! But no matter how many Mondays go by, I still can’t seem to shake dreading that beeping of the alarm.
Awkward moment of the day: realizing how difficult it is to shimmy out of pencil skirts to use the bathroom. Girls think rompers are risky busy, I say no way compared to this. They are skinny at top, wide in the middle, skinny at the bottom. They’re a circus act to get in and out of.
Short story: When I was leaving work, I had to pee. And I actually stopped in the hallway between the staircase and the bathroom, contemplating whether to go ahead and do the shimmy out of this skirt (for the 60th time) to use the bathroom or just hold it until I got home, at which time I could just completely take it off. I went with waiting and held it ‘til I got home.

Yesterday I…
- made Chris get up with me at 530a as I got ready for work.
- found Ossie snuggled back in the bed when I kissed him goodbye.
- sent something special back.
- attended my first Monday morning meeting with the entire division.
- was being killed by my allergies.
- drank my body weight in water.
- stopped in the bathroom before leaving work and realized that I rubbed the majority of my eyeliner off my eye. but just the right one.
- missed some good friends.
- didn’t fold the fitted sheet because I’m pretty sure it’s impossible.
- planned for a date night out but didn’t.
- ended up in sweatpants on the couch watching River Monsters (one of Chris’ shows).
- fell asleep during River Monsters. woke up half way through River Monsters.
- crawled into bed at 9.

The long weekend is over (the extra day was much needed) and it’s back to real life again. I have school this morning and after, I’ll change clothes & travel a little less than an hour to go to work. I forgot to mention, in my earlier post, about how amazingly they’re working with my school hours! I’m able to work from home throughout the week and then after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays, I drive up and work from 1-5p! Not a bad set-up!
You’ve seen this striped top a million times already (like here, here, and here) but today I’ve paired with something new! Well, actually it’s very old skirt. You can probably see a little bit of fraying at the bottom if you look closely. I bought it like five years ago? But point is, it’s new to you! As for shoes, I pulled out my cowboy boots seen before here and simply rolled down the tops.
Also on the calendar for this week, my first exam is on Friday! What do you have going this week?

In case you were wondering where I’ve been recently, I’ve been nonstop at classes, library, & at the computer lab. Here’s catch up:
i. First week of classes conquered! I have a feeling that this is going to be a good semester. Though my assigned reading this semester is already outrageous!
ii. I was sneaky and managed to get a 100% refund on my pre-session Islam textbooks because she happens to teach the same course this fall. Otherwise I would’ve had to wait to sell them back to the school at the end of the fall semester…which is always awful. Last year I spent like $450 on books & only got $6 dollars back.
iii. Remember that possible opportunity as a technical writer intern? Well, on Friday I had the interview. And that interview turned into a two hour meeting complete with tour of the office work spaces and laboratories and meeting some of the scientists there that I’ll be working with. So I’m now the official technical editor (paid!) intern. Meaning I’ll be reviewing and editing the scientists’ proposals & such. As of now, I can’t say too much about it but the job does requires me to get a government security clearance. So cool.
I left the meeting feeling my heart was too big for my body and felt so incredibly lucky that I was going to be apart of their team. Can you imagine, a little English major among all these geniuses?
iv. I forgot to mention this interview was in another town and I was anxious/nervous about the drive, so Chris sped through work in order to drive me. Also meaning he had to wait two hours in the parking lot while I was inside. Poor guy! But after the good news, he took me out to celebrate! This guy is a keeper, for sure.
v. It’s Sunday. And laundry day. And the day I like to spend some extra time in the tub reading a magazine coursework while having a hair mask in. And my day to play catch up with blogging (and blog reading).
