A mystery package arrived from best friend M this week. Inside? Pug bookends!

Awkward moment of the week: the moment you realize you really do need to go grocery shopping because you are completely out of toilet paper. And have resorted to using tissues.

The boys looking so serious.

And not so serious.

This is my don’t-get-dressed-on-the-weekends-because-I-mostly-just-stay-cramped-in-my-computer-chair-doing-homework outfit photo.

Friday night the university got news of two of our (basketball) coaches dying in a plane crash. All games were canceled but our football game away. That night, our football team got their first loss of the season.
“November 18, 2011, is a day Oklahoma State will never forget. It was a day where OSU fans, players and coaches awoke to the news of tragedy and went to bed with the bitter taste of defeat.” —See article here.
All my classes, with the exception of my night class, were canceled so students could attend the memorial services of the two coaches. I feel less of a loss for the OSU family and more an ache for their individual families. One coach left behind a wife and two kids. My thoughts go out to them and to the pilots’ (a married couple, who didn’t survive) families as well.
A solemn day at OSU.

The weather forecast is rain today, through the weekend, and til Tuesday. I’m huddled up for another weekend in the library, this time studying for midterms instead of writing. It’s so empty here on Fridays and Saturdays. (What? College students usually go out and binge drink on the weekends?) I even have a semi-routine going now. I bring snacks, a comfy hoodie, and big fluffy socks to change into once I slip off my shoes. I find a secluded spot and plug in my earphones then get down to business.
Been listening to Jack’s Mannequin new album since Tuesday. And, pop over to my friend Alex’s blog to watch this video about the album.
On a different note, I’m dying to plop down on my couch and catch up on all my shows that recorded this week. Dexter, Boardwalk Empire, Real World, The League, & Project Runway. We recorded the pilot episode of American Horror Story on FX, anyone watching that? It looks different and c’mon, it has Dylan McDermott. Haha, reliving my crush on him from the 90s when he was in Steel Magnolias and Miracle on 34th Street.

Last day of my summer break? Let’s break out the bikini then.

We’re grabbing the dogs, stopping in town for a quick errand, and then spending the rest of the day at the lake! Here’s some of what I’m hauling around in my bag for the long weekend. I really adore these sandals I picked up earlier this week, only $10! I, at first, wasn’t going to buy them because I usually lean towards buying shoes in black. But (obviously) I got them and I think I’ve worn them about everyday. Thumbs up.
But we’re about to head out the door! So happy fourth everyone!

Ring, sunglasses, satchel - forever 21, tee - chris’, denim shorts - diy, belt - thrifted, thunder cup - from a game
I’m at home snuggled up on the couch with Ossie and desperately trying to not doze off during the Thunder game. (Surely the Mavs aren’t going to knock off both my western teams?! Gaah. #foreverhatingdirk) Allergy medicine + only 4 hours of sleep last night is what I’m running on.
I’ve been go go go since 930 this morning: job follow-ups, picking up my textbooks for my summer course (eek $80 gone!), finalizing my fall class schedule (18 hours), returning emails, errands, and a stop at Lowe’s. Wait, what? A stop at Lowe’s?…that’s right, I’m getting a little proactive with our yard/garden.
Awkward moment of the day: When Chris is listing dinner options since we’ve majorly put off grocery shopping: cereal, frozen waffles, or ice cream. I’ll be taking an Oreo shake for dinner, please and thank you.

Mom: Make sure to keep May 17th open!
Me: No problem, what’s going on?
Mom: Your dad and I are going to Disneyland and meeting up with Rob and Nicole!
Me: Like a couples weekend!
Mom: Yeah, and…
Me: (omg! She’s going to invite Chris and I to come too! This is so cool. Is it too tourist-y to get some cute Minnie Mouse ears? I don’t care, I’m going to do it.)
Mom: And we need you to come watch the dogs.
Waaah waaaah. Haha, but it’s all good because we get to spend the week spoiling their cute new pup…

Shot from my moleskine, snippets from my art final (the dreaded self portrait!) using 6B graphite, & my art pack
This week is finals week! Criiiinge. I really didn’t want to get back into the seriousness of studying after the amazing weekend I had. Today, I plan on finishing up my final art project, tomorrow hitting the books….can’t wait.
Awesome moment of the day: Sunday, while out in Bricktown celebrating my sister’s birthday, we saw Tony Allen! Tony Allen plays for the Memphis Grizzlies. He was out after just playing a game against the OKC Thunder. Still don’t know who he is? Well…us either. Until Chris reminded us he was this guy who was all over SportsCenter last week.
Get ready for some puppy spam coming up in my next post…

Tank, fringe sandals (old!) - American Eagle, Scarf, leggings, satchel - Forever 21
The weather has been hot, hot and absolutely brilliant in Oklahoma. (Well, except for yesterday. I felt like a slug and all I could think was “waah, when do the pools open!?”) I wasn’t feeling around to getting my picture taken, hence only the snippets of an outfit post. I had to dig around my closet for these black fringe sandals (omg fringe! drooool). They were tucked away in my summer clothes box! Jeez, I don’t even remember when I got these but it was at least two summers ago. Maybe even three?
There was a bunch of tours happening on campus this afternoon. I remember being a high school senior and going on mine! Carrying around a bulky name tag, a big eager grin, and an orange bag with goodies in it from the school. One group stopped and asked my about my major, etc. It’s funny because they all look so young! Eighteen doesn’t look as old as it use to feel.
But overall today’s been nice. I spent the morning catching up on Conan episodes and then went to classes. Only mishaps: spilling chocolate milk on my charger (eek! panic!) and leaving the house without putting on deodorant (whoops).

Bane doing some handy work on our trees. And check out Ossie’s tail…it’s finally getting its pug curl!
