I’ve been back at work this week. Back to the 530a wake up and the hour long commute. Back to breakfast and juice in the car while I’m waiting at the stoplights. Easy to say, I miss the long easy days of being on Vegas vacation.

The funny (or ironic, or ridiculous) thing is, I thought that once school was over I’d have more time. To myself, with Chris, with friends. I have read four books (already 1/3 done with #21 on my goals list) but have completely neglected working out and blogging. Spent early nights talking in bed with Chris until we both unintentionally drift off from exhaustion. Enjoyed hours passing by as I sit on the couch listening and exchanging stories with my best friend. It’s been a hard adjustment from seeing her twice a day during school to our current schedule—me working days and asleep super early while she does a summer class and works nights.

I keep finding myself rolling the same questions in my head: when will I settle into this new rhythm? I look around and admire those around me. Dealing, making it work, owning it. I want to get there—feel in control of my life again. My answer is the new house (that we move into over the Memorial Day weekend!)

The house is closer to work (by like ten or so minutes, nothing hugely significant) and offers so much more space. Chris and I can go back to eating at a table again. This means more time together, more home cooked meals (it’s insane how alluring drive thru’s or take out is when your energy seems nonexistent), and less money spent eating out. In our house we are in now, our kitchen has so little counter space we had to fold down our table so we could have somewhere to put the microwave and an area to chop vegetables/etc. We can also move our gym from its current location, in the detached garage, into one of the spare rooms in the new house. I can’t wait to get back on the treadmill without choking on the muggy and humid heat. (Reminder to self: time to invest in new running shoes) And lastly, I want to save and buy a big, comfy, and vibrant colored reading chair to put into my office in the new house.

I’m ready to get to feeling in a routine again. The packing, unpacking, sorting, and decorating will ease a lot of the anxiety I’m sure. But I can’t wait for all the other things that this house can offer—time by myself, time with Chris, and space to finally entertain guests.

*Here are some shots of the beautiful camera bag Chris bought me for my birthday back in March. I’ve been using it like crazy because it’s so versatile. I use it whenever we go off somewhere and I plan to take photos (the inside padding protects my camera) and I use it when I go to work, taking out some of the inserts and putting in my planner and moleskine.

Yesterday I…

  • made Chris get up with me at 530a as I got ready for work.
  • found Ossie snuggled back in the bed when I kissed him goodbye.
  • sent something special back.
  • attended my first Monday morning meeting with the entire division.
  • was being killed by my allergies.
  • drank my body weight in water.
  • stopped in the bathroom before leaving work and realized that I rubbed the majority of my eyeliner off my eye. but just the right one.
  • missed some good friends.
  • didn’t fold the fitted sheet because I’m pretty sure it’s impossible.
  • planned for a date night out but didn’t.
  • ended up in sweatpants on the couch watching River Monsters (one of Chris’ shows).
  • fell asleep during River Monsters. woke up half way through River Monsters.
  • crawled into bed at 9.

So I’m a bit behind on posts and my mind is so jumbled from the crazy weekend (graduation! graduation party!) and now from this hectic week (working full time!). This was from Friday. After my last final and before we jumped in the truck to go help Chris’ dad move.

Weirdly enough, I am not a sunglasses person. I own only three pairs—these, my fake raybans (seem before here), and gold/nude sunglasses (seen before here). I just never buy them and if I do, I forget to wear them. But this my 100th outfit post and to celebrate I popped out my Queen tee! Also, my bangs are too long.

This weekend I was tired, grumpy, and my brain was fried from so much homework and stress. I wanted to ignore everything on my to-do list and just sit in my pajamas watching ‘Say Yes to the Dress’. But not on Saturday. Saturday I actually washed my hair, shaved my legs, redid my nail polish, and got to dress up all for…Chris’  sister’s wedding day! And not to brag, but I got sit in the front row at the wedding. A first for me, perks of dating Chris. His sister looked beautiful and it was so great to be a part of their day and visit with so much of Chris’ family again.

Awkward moment of the day: People I graduated with not recognizing me and introducing themselves after the wedding. In all fairness, it has been like over four years since they’ve seen me.

This is another he & she outfit installment (last one here). We also ended with this  strange photo below.

summer skin, let’s begin

The nude flats (from this post) are out for the bright, sunny, and hothothot weather. I wore this out to my parents for the Easter weekend. I should also address here is, yet another, favorite item I thieved from my mom’s closet—this striped long sleeve. Maybe I should start a tag dedicated to outfits featuring all the clothes I steal from her…

Also take a small notice at that new handbag camera bag! I’ll do a proper post for all its glory—but here is the thoughtful gift Chris gave me for my birthday. It’s a beautiful Theit camera bag, and I can finally carry around my camera without worrying about damaging it! It’s absolutely perfect to store my camera along with everything else I toss in my bag! Love, love it. Big props to my man!

Awkward moment of the day: Realizing the soap in the bathroom you’ve been using for the past three weeks is actually hand sanitizer. But it explains why it was so slippery and hard to wash with.

Spring break is over and even though I spent the whole week working, I have to admit that I’m not ready to go back to classes. If anything its made me feel even more ready to be done with school and start working full time.

My weekend was amazing. After coming home Friday from work, Chris whisked me away on a secretly planned date night. On Saturday, we packed up the pups and spent time with my family and my newly arrived sister (and her two adorable little girls) who is here visiting for a few months from Germany! And tonight, as an early birthday gift from T, Chris and I may end up going to the Thunder/Heat game. I feel so lucky to be surrounded by such a great bunch of people in my life.

For the most part of the weekend, the rain kept us inside. We did manage to venture out a few times: a double date to the theater to watch 21 Jump Street and to grab some groceries (though we forgot the paper towels).

This outfit is actually from a few weeks ago and I found it hidden in my drafts. Who doesn’t love an outfit with stripes? Which brings me to my new “project”/hash tag #stripesarebest aka tagging any outfit post that I’m wearing stripes just to see how many different ways its worn.

Parka worn before here. Last day to enter my giveaway for the chance to buy this parka or any other Sugarlips garment for 50% off!

b, be, bee

[ Blazer - Silence & Noise via UO, top - Forever 21, pants - BDG via UO, platforms -  Miss Selfridge ]

Can you spot the little bee hovering above the flowers? You can see a close up here. Chris and I could spot these flowered trees lining main street as we took a walk and I’ve spotted them in some of my neighbors yards—and I just love them. I think they are so pretty. I can’t believe how warm its gotten this March and how the trees and flowers are coming back to life. Makes me nervous that our summer might be worse than last year’s!

I’m such a fan of this outfit and couldn’t wait to wear it to work today. Prepare for my gushing: the blazer is fitted brilliantly and has these lovely satin cuffs, the lightweight and adorable bicycle print top that has the long hem in the back, and of course, the platforms! I definitely had a swing in my step each time I had to walk down the hallway to use the bathroom or to warm up my lunch.

Can’t wait that it’s almost the weekend! Tomorrow is our last day of classes before spring break. Does anyone have big plans?

It’s Monday and I’m looking at my planner & to-do list and I’m smiling. I took my last midterm today, I have no homework for the night—and can just sit on the couch all evening, catching up on shows with Chris. It’s a big smile, guys.

On Sunday, Chris and I had brunch down at my parent’s house. Waffles, bacon, and eggs. Then as it rained, we worked in the garage on a light box project made from wood. My dad and Chris are quite the carpenters!

The rain passed (come back!) and the weather nearly reached the eighties today. I can’t believe what little of a winter we had! Psh, already showing my (ghostly white) legs this early in the year…
