tie-back ballet flats

Gap purchased: tie-back ballets flats in nude. I’ve been on the look out for some nude flats for ages. I’d always come across some that were almost what I wanted, but not quite. The shoe fabric/color or the toe cleavage or the heel (its suppose to be a flat for a reason) would turn me off. But I took the plunge and bought these flats with a discount code a week or a so ago.

I’ve already worn these a few times and love them, but they do have a few drawbacks. The can scuff and get dirty easily—meaning I check the weather to make sure for sunny skies before I pull them on and keep to the sidewalks on campus.

black mary jane

Miss Selfridge purchased: the super black mary jane heel. These are perfect in every way. Black suede, mary jane + platforms.

My only problem with my love of platform shoes is that I’m already tall. But I can’t wait to wear these!

guess who snagged some sales?

BDG Classic Solid Cardigan in Maroon via UO

Rhinestone Bib Necklace via UO

this girl did.

For some reason I have really, really been feeling the color yellow/mustard lately. Proof: the cardigan, my nails, and now this perfect little dress that’ll arrive just in time to celebrate my three year anniversary with Chris. February 8, get ready. I’ll be strutting my freezing butt off just to be looking good for my man.

Fine, I’ll be wearing tights. Probably two pairs to try to double up on warmth. And a coat, duh, when we are outside. Stop hassling me.

The maroon cardigan? Same brand and style as my charteuse (aka yellow/mustard) cardigan but just happens to be $20 cheaper. The “rhinestone bib” necklace? I admit, I don’t know how this will go over. I don’t usually wear bibs or rhinestones. Cross your fingers it looks classy with a nice fitted top to wear to work or this baby will be returned.

Conclusion: Despite my gravitation to wearing neutrals, I’m warming up to bold colored garments. And apparently to blingy bibs too.

splurge, splurge + a side of guilt

All from Urban Outfitters, from left to right: BDG Woven Tassel Loafers, Silence & Noise Keyhole Tank Top in black multi, BDG Cigarette Jean, Deena & Ozzy Sculpted Wedge, Staring at the Stars Open Weave Fringed Scarf in grey, Sparkle & Fade Colorblock Tulip Dress, BDG Classic Cardigan in chartreuse, Truly Madly Deeply Merci Tee in blue.

Purchased.

To help ease my guilt for buying this, I must disclaimer/justify it to myself. I have only gone shopping three times this entire year. All the money I’ve earned from my internship has gone towards groceries, etc. Also, I mostly bought sale items + used a discount code (for those interested: TOPARTY) towards the purchase.

Despite having to be extra tight until my next paycheck (which comes at the end of the week), I can’t help thinking: “Omg. Omg. Can’t wait for this package to arrive!” every time I see the confirmation email/order status in my inbox. I should be embarrassed about how giddy I am about it, but no shame.

Can’t wait.

is it fall yet?

Vero Moda Knitted Poncho (brown), ASOS Overknee Socks (black)

I’m more of a winter kind of girl. I love winter clothes and wearing layers so come summertime, I panic! I’m mostly just wear shorts and a tee. And even though it’s only the beginning of August, I’ve already got my mind on oversized sweaters, mustard colored cardigans, thick socks, and wool leggings. Not to mention boots.

And last night, Chris and I are sitting together on the couch. Listening to music and talking and poking about on the internet. I’m looking at autumn/winter clothes, feeling a bit down about money. And he sweetly offers to buy the two items above. All I could do was scoot closer and give him a kiss.

ASOS - Vero Moda Bird Print Frill Dress

Can I just say that I hate the “can’t wear white dress to a wedding” rule. I get that the idea of it is to not upstage the bride. But c’mon, a cotton dress isn’t much competition for a wedding gown! I’m just saying if I’m going to be a spending an evening outside in the hot summer sun, like I will be on Saturday, I want to look effortless like Rachel Bilson does here.

But it’s bad taste to wear white, I know, so I’ll be a good sport and wear this Vero Moda dress from ASOS instead. Why I like it: it’s lightweight material, a playful print, and one shouldered. Though I like prints, I find that I rarely ever buy them so this is will be a nice addition to my wardrobe! And to avoid looking too leggy I’ll be pairing it with these gladiator sandals.

Who am I kidding, I will probably be wearing this casually around for the rest of the summer.
